Canopy Housing Project

Canopy Housing Project was established in 1998 in the Hyde Park area of Leeds to tackle homelessness and derelict properties. It operates a refurbishment programme involving volunteers and staff working alongside those who do not have a home to bring high cost and empty properties back into use.

Canopy Housing Project is now based in the Beeston area of Leeds.  Aire Valley Homes have worked in partnership with Canopy since 2004. Canopy have a number of properties on a lease agreement, mainly in the Beeston and Holbeck area. Many of these properties are too expensive for us to bring up to the Governments Decent Home Standard.

By working in partnership with Canopy we support the aims of the project where it brings empty homes back into use, which have previously been a blight on the area and attracted vandalism and fly tipping. The project also provides a stable tenancy and creates decent affordable accommodation for people that are homeless or in housing need

Through practical work Canopy brings together lots of volunteers and individuals from different communities and diverse groups, including people with differing abilities, to learn new skills and increase their confidence in accessing training and employment.

Canopy Housing Project is a non profit making organisation and relies on funds from charitable sources. Canopy is also supported by Leeds City Council, the Local Arms Length Management Organisations, and Local Housing Associations.
